2025-2026 Kindergarten Screening and Enrollment

Appointments are required!

Students that will attend Franklin Smith Elementary will schedule their appointments on one of the following days listed below.  The screening and enrollment process will take approximately one hour.  Please call the office at (816) 874-3640 to schedule your appointment.

Thursday, March 13th: 12pm-7pm

Friday, March 14th: 9am-3pm

If you are unsure of which elementary school your child will attend, visit the BSSD Transportation Transfinder link and enter your address.

Please Bring the following on the Day of Your Appointment:

• Your enrolling kindergartner - we will welcome your child to his/her new school!
• Enrolling kindergartner's birth certificate (state copy, must list enrolling parent/guardian name)
• Parent/guardian photo ID
• Current immunization records
• If applicable, divorce decree, parenting plan, and/or pertinent adoption or foster paperwork.
• Two of the following items and they must display the home address and parent/guardian name:
  1. *Gas Bill
  2. *Electric Bill
  3. *Water Bill
  4. Lease agreement or mortgage statement
  5. Construction contract - including expected completion.

*Current bills (within the last 30 days). No shut-off notices or FINAL notices, and the bill must include the occupant's name and address.

Please follow the lunch sign-up instructions below:

1. All lunch visitors must complete a Volunteer Application at least five days before their first visit. The Volunteer Application only needs to be filled out once during the 2024-2025 school year. You may access an application by coping and pasting this link into your browser:

Guests may eat with their students once the application has been processed and approved. 

2. Copy and paste the link below to sign-up.  Guests must sign-up at least one day in advance. This helps us better accommodate our guests and seating.

3. When you arrive for lunch, you will ring the doorbell that goes into the cafeteria (door labeled B6). We will have a list of everyone that is eating lunch that day. You will only be on the list if you have done the steps above. Once you arrive, you will be asked to show your ID and will receive a visitor sticker that must be worn while in the building. When lunch is over, you will exit through the Prime Time doors to the parking lot.
